VA-ACME Awards

VA-ACME honors exceptional individuals and organizations for their contributions to military education in Virginia through various awards presented annually. In 2024, VA-ACME will be presenting the following awards:

  • The Berry Educator of the Year Award

  • Sponsorship Awards

  • Volunteer Award

  • The President’s Award

To submit a nomination, please click on the appropriate link below. Nominations should include the name and contact information of both the nomination sponsor and the nominee. Additionally, a written statement detailing why the nominated individual deserves recognition must be provided.


AWARDS CATEGORIES

 

Dr. Carol A. Berry Educator of the Year

The Berry Educator of the Year Award is open to both military and civilian individuals who have made significant contributions to the military community. Nominees should be admired by their peers, inspire excellence, and foster a culture of respect and success. They should also demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and a commitment to continuous learning. Open to Military Affiliated, Civilian, or both. Must be nominated by a VA-ACME member.

Eligibility: A person directly serving military members at military installations, colleges and universities, and/or government entities.

Criteria: An individual who made a significant contribution to military education. A VA-ACME member must submit the nomination.

Sponsorship AwardS

VA-ACME honors corporate entities and academic institutions that have significantly supported our organization through sponsorship. Recipients will receive a plaque and a certificate, and their contributions will be recognized for creativity, leadership, integrity, professional excellence, and service to the global military community.

Eligibility: Awards are presented in recognition of outstanding contributions and accomplishments in support of military education.

Criteria: VA-ACME’s Executive Board and the Awards Chair will select the award recipients. Nominations are accepted from VA-ACME members. Organizational representatives may nominate their organization.

Volunteer of the Year Award

VA-ACME recognizes individuals who have gone above and beyond in support of our organization. Their dedication to volunteerism, military education initiatives, and the overall well-being of the military education community is truly commendable.

Eligibility: The award is presented to a member in recognition of outstanding contributions to VA-ACME and the cause of military education.

Criteria: Each VA-ACME committee chair will nominate a member for the Volunteer of the Year Award. VA-ACME’s Executive Board and the Awards Chair will select the award recipient. Individuals may not nominate themselves.

President’s Award

This award celebrates an individual's lifetime of achievements in military education. It is bestowed upon those who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, innovation, and commitment to advancing the field of education and supporting military students. The recipient must have had a profound influence on the development and improvement of military education.

Eligibility: An individual or organization making a significant contribution that advances the cause of military education.

Criteria: VA-ACME’s Executive Board and the Awards Chair will select the award recipient. Nominations are accepted from VA-ACME members. Individuals may nominate themselves.
